Texas DPS required every emissions vehicle-inspection station to use a static IP address for each station location beginning August 1, 2025. DPS warned that noncompliance with the applicable rule can result in analyzer lockout.

Texas implemented House Bill 3297 on January 1, 2025, ending the state safety-inspection requirement for non-commercial vehicles. Emissions inspections remained required in designated emissions counties, and commercial vehicles continued to require safety inspections. DPS also directed stations continuing covered inspection work to use the current Vehicle Inspection Connection process.

For vehicles a mechanic took possession of on or after September 1, 2021, Texas mechanic's-lien notices must include the proposed sale or disposition date where applicable. For vehicles of 16,000 lb gross weight or more, the notice may be filed within 30 days after repairs are completed or no later than the 30th day before the proposed sale date. Lighter vehicles keep the 30-day-after-completion deadline.
