Florida raised the mandatory written repair-estimate threshold from $100 to $150

Florida Chapter 2024-137 amended section 559.905 so a motor vehicle repair shop must prepare the statutory written repair estimate when requested repair work will exceed $150 rather than the former $100 threshold. The same act also revised repair-shop registration application information and made registration fees apply per location. The changes took effect July 1, 2024.

Florida added ADAS calibration and new glass-repair notice rules to the Motor Vehicle Repair Act

Florida Chapter 2023-136 revised the Motor Vehicle Repair Act to expressly include ADAS calibration and recalibration in motor vehicle repair. It also made it unlawful for repair shops or employees to offer a rebate or other thing of value in exchange for a motor-vehicle-glass insurance claim and requires electronic or written notice in at least 12-point type when ADAS calibration or recalibration is required as part of glass replacement or repair. The act took effect May 25, 2023.
