Florida changed auto-glass claims and ADAS calibration disclosure rules

Florida Chapter 2023-136 took effect July 1, 2023. It added ADAS calibration and recalibration to the Motor Vehicle Repair Act, made it an unlawful practice for a repair shop to fail to give the required electronic or written notice about whether glass-related ADAS calibration is required, and prohibited assignment of post-loss motor-vehicle glass insurance benefits for policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2023, including benefits for ADAS calibration or recalibration.

What to check

Florida glass and collision shops should keep the required ADAS-calibration notice in the customer workflow and should not use assignment-of-benefits agreements for post-loss motor-vehicle glass claims covered by §627.7289.
