South Carolina added detailed false-claim rules for vehicle-glass repairs

South Carolina Code §39-5-180 took effect June 18, 2012. It prohibits vehicle-glass sellers, repairers and replacers from knowingly submitting claims for undamaged glass or services not provided, billing with false location or service dates, submitting repairs without owner/lessee/insured-driver authorization, misrepresenting price or insurer authorization, unnecessarily increasing damage or work, providing claim rebates, and misrepresenting the shop's relationship with an insurer.

What to check

South Carolina glass shops should make sure insurance billing, customer authorization, damage documentation, service dates and insurer-relationship statements match the actual work and claim facts.
