Delaware aligned Sussex County emissions testing with the rest of the state
CheckDelaware shops doing emissions repairs should apply the new vehicle coverage (including heavier light trucks), tell Sussex customers about the higher waiver spending threshold, and use Certified Emission Repair Technicians for waiver-eligible work.

DNREC amended Regulations 1126 and 1131 effective January 11, 2023. The amendments extend the new-vehicle testing exemption from five to seven model years, add OBD testing for 2008+ vehicles of 8,501-14,000 lb GVWR, move 1995-and-older vehicles to curb idle and gas cap tests, phase in a higher repair-cost threshold for Sussex County emissions waivers, and add anti-tampering language statewide. DMV began the Sussex changes in summer 2023.
