Are the airbags and SRS components you install in Vermont legally functional?

Vermont law prohibits knowingly installing or reinstalling a counterfeit supplemental-restraint-system component, a nonfunctional airbag, or an object in place of a compliant restraint-system component. It also prohibits installing or reinstalling a component that causes the vehicle diagnostic system to fail to warn the operator that an airbag is missing, counterfeit, or nonfunctional.

Quick check

Verify every installed SRS component is functional and legitimate, and confirm the vehicle diagnostic system still warns correctly after the repair.

When this applies

Your Vermont shop installs, reinstalls, or repairs airbag or supplemental-restraint-system components.

Source and document compliant restraint-system components, do not install deployed, damaged, counterfeit, prohibited, or diagnostic-defeating airbag components, and verify the vehicle's warning/diagnostic system functions correctly after SRS work.
