Vermont expanded the ban on counterfeit and nonfunctional airbag installation

Vermont Act 165 of 2024 amended 13 V.S.A. §2026 effective July 1, 2024. The revised law expressly prohibits knowingly installing or reinstalling counterfeit automobile supplemental-restraint components, nonfunctional airbags or objects that do not comply with federal safety requirements, and prohibits installations that defeat the vehicle diagnostic warning system.
