If your Rhode Island shop replaces glass, who handles ADAS calibration?

Effective October 29, 2026, amended 230-RICR-30-05-3 §§3.8(A)(1)-(2) require licensed glass-repair applicants to demonstrate technician ADAS calibration certification or identify qualified ADAS-certified contracting entities used for calibration. A glass licensee using the contractor alternative must notify consumers that it is not certified in ADAS calibration and identify the performing entity where applicable under §3.6(I). Existing licensed Rhode Island auto-body shops do not need a separate glass-repair license solely to conduct motor-vehicle glass repairs.

Quick check

Maintain ADAS calibration certification or a qualifying certified contractor, and provide required notices if a contractor performs calibration.

Review cadenceEffective October 29, 2026; verify during license application or renewal, when glass service or calibration subcontractors change, and whenever work requires calibration.
When this applies

You hold or are applying for a Rhode Island motor-vehicle glass repair license, including a mobile glass repair business, and perform glass work potentially requiring ADAS calibration.

Confirm whether the glass license applies; if so, review the technicians' ADAS course/certification records or maintain the name/location and contracting arrangement of certified calibration providers. Update customer-facing notice language, keep certificates available, and document who performs calibration after relevant glass work.
