If an insurer chose your Alaska repair facility, is the repair guarantee handled correctly?

Alaska Division of Insurance guidance states that when a person adjusting or settling a claim chooses a specific contractor or repair facility, that person must guarantee the repairs, restore the damaged motor vehicle or property to its pre-loss condition at no additional cost to the claimant, and cause the repairs to be completed within a reasonable time.

Quick check

Document the insurer-selected repair arrangement and make sure the claim process supports restoring the vehicle to pre-loss condition at no extra cost to the claimant within a reasonable time.

When this applies

Your Alaska shop performs claim-related repairs after an insurer or adjuster selected or directed the claimant to the specific repair facility.

When work arrives through an insurer-selected repair arrangement, document who selected the facility, the repair scope and supplements, and any insurer commitments needed to restore the vehicle to pre-loss condition without added cost to the claimant.
