EPA extended certain PCE and CTC workplace-protection compliance dates

EPA's July 28, 2026 final rule extended selected Workplace Chemical Protection Program deadlines for entities subject to the PCE and carbon tetrachloride TSCA rules. For affected non-federal owners and operators, initial inhalation monitoring moved to June 21, 2027; the ECEL, regulated-area, workplace-information/training and respiratory-protection deadlines moved to September 20, 2027; and the PCE exposure-control-plan deadline moved to December 20, 2027. The extension does not reopen or extend every prohibition in the 2024 PCE rule.

What to check

If your shop uses a PCE- or CTC-containing product under a condition of use that remains allowed and is subject to the Workplace Chemical Protection Program, update your compliance calendar to the extended dates. Do not treat this as an extension of prohibited PCE uses such as general aerosol degreasing; first confirm that your exact use is allowed to continue.
