Do your Maryland written estimates and overage approvals meet the state rule?

Before repair work begins on a job over $50, a Maryland automotive repair facility must provide a written statement when the customer requests one. The statement includes the estimated completion date, estimated labor and parts price, specified responsibility/insurance language, and any estimated surcharge. An estimate-preparation fee must be disclosed before the estimate is made, and the facility may not charge more than 10% above the written estimate without the customer's consent.

Quick check

When a customer requests an estimate on a job over $50, verify the written statement contains the required details and that charges do not exceed it by more than 10% without consent.
