Ohio repair-registration penalties for catalytic-converter offenses took effect

Ohio House Bill 210 took effect October 6, 2026. The Motor Vehicle Repair Board must refuse to issue or renew, and must revoke, registrations for specified convictions involving unlawful used catalytic-converter purchases, catalytic-converter theft, or receiving stolen catalytic converters.

What to check

Ohio registered collision-repair and window-tint operators should review catalytic-converter sourcing and handling controls, make sure staff understand the new prohibited-purchase rules, and recognize that specified convictions can now result in registration denial, nonrenewal, or revocation.
