North Carolina moved toward ending vehicle emissions inspections statewide

North Carolina law now provides for removing all 19 remaining counties from the vehicle emissions Inspection/Maintenance program, but the change is not yet effective. NC DEQ says implementation still depends on EPA approval and final action by DEQ and DMV; annual safety inspections remain in place.
