Illinois restructured its emissions testing network with inspection-and-repair stations

Under a plan required by Public Act 102-0738, Illinois EPA's new testing contract started March 17, 2025, restoring a City of Chicago Air Team station and adding Inspection and Repair (I&R) stations at private repair shops, self-serve kiosks and mobile testing units. Illinois also began testing 2021 model-year vehicles in 2025.
